New Bisterne public events in 2022
We are open for visitors again, hooray!
Bisterne Coarse fishing: open February 1 – March 15 and then the whole of August and September. £12/day buy tickets at the River Bailiff’s house right down a road off the B3347 1.8 miles south of Ringwood, signed “Bisterne Fishing” down Watton’s Ford Lane. Find the Bailiff’s house here.
Saturday 28th May from 1.00-5.00pm there is a double opening of Bisterne Manor garden and its historic walled garden which is now beautifully tended by the Stable Family Home Trust. The entry ticket for both gardens is £5 which goes to the NGS. Children are free. Tea and cake will be served for £3.50, proceeds from which will be divided equally between the SFHT and the church. The Ringwood and Burley Band will be playing. Booking is recommended on-line at ngs.org.uk or cash at the gate. Dogs on leads welcome. Wheelchair access. Sunday June 5th a Bisterne Jubilee Street Party will be held at Kingston Farm, BH24 3BJ at 1.00pm. This is a bring and share get-together for Bisterne, Kingston and district. It will be followed by a Barn Dance in the barn at Kingston Farm from 3.00-5.00pm. Bring your own drinks and come and celebrate HM the Queen’s 70th Jubilee. It’s a wonderful way to get to know each other. Location here on What3Words. About 65 people came and we had a great time saluting Her Majesty with our Loyal Toast and dancing the afternoon away.
June 12th – Brixey’s Farm, part of Bisterne Farms, is open for Open Farm Sunday FREE 1000-1600hrs, with a chance to see cows being milked, calves and displays of farm machinery, a huge milk tanker, bees, wildlife conservation, gamekeeping, tractor and trailer ride, woodland walk, fly casting demonstration. Around 30 displays and a very good outing for children and the whole family. FREE, with easy parking. Click here and come to this location for the entrance off the B3347 1.5 m south of Ringwood. Use this entrance only, please. A huge thank you to the over 4,000 people who came to visit the farm and conservation area to learn from the 35 displays. This event would only have been possible with the time given freely by many, many volunteers, exhibitors, the South Avon and Stour Agricultural Association and GTB Farming who laid on the fantastic day. The local community at its best.
30th July Stable Family Home Trust Summer Fayre. The Stable Family Home Trust are hosting their Country Summer Fayre. This will be a fun packed afternoon full of activities for all the family.
September Heritage Open Days at the Manor: – the Manor interior opens for FREE tours hosted by the owners on two days in early September – but tickets must be pre-booked via the Heritage Open Day website, please. We will be opening for two tours on Thursday 15th September at 1000hrs and 1400hrs. We look forward to seeing you.
